Resound hearing aids
The Resound hearing aids are available in behind-the-ear, in-the-ear and in-the-canal styles. Both behind the ear and in the canal is available with two memories (one memory for "quiet" listening and the other for more "noisy" listening conditions) or a single memory. The two-memory versions require the use a remote control. The remote control allows the user to switch between the two memories and change the overall volume. The single memory version is known as the "Encore" model. Both the single and two memory Resound hearing aids use Wide Dynamic Range Compression, which was developed at AT&T. Both the single and two memory hearing aids are programmable using a programmer developed by Resound or via a computer. The advantage of programmable technology is that the audiologist can immediately change the parameters of the hearing aid if the patient's hearing should change or if the patient would prefer a different sound quality. Additional advantages of programmable technology are the capacity to make changes in very precise steps and the improved ability to change the response of the hearing aids to better match the needs of the patient.
